Lifestyle Change

I've been putting it off for a long time, but I am finally at the point that I can't stand the weight I'm at. I lost nearly 15 pounds last spring and I've gained at least 13 of it back. But starting today, things are changing. I'm not putting it off another day.

After work, I came straight home, ignoring all my usual stops along the way. Then I changed into a pair of shorts and played Wii Resort while I baked chicken. I played the Wii for around 45 minutes, mostly standing up but sitting on an exercise ball when I wanted to sit down. Then I cleaned the kitchen and had a very yummy chicken salad with light dressing.

I'm using an app on my iPhone called Lose It! to keep track of my exercise and what I'm eating. I started to do it back in September, but I wasn't very motivated.

I'm meeting my mom at the grocery store later to pick up some fruits and veggies, because, if anything, they are what I don't get enough of. I tend to eat lots of carbs and meat and ignore the fruits and veggies, but I'm trying to change that.

I know what to do and what not to do when it comes to making myself healthier. I just have to set my mind to it and do it.

My Heros

In two weeks from today, my 18 and 1/2 year old brother will be leaving for bootcamp and from there will be going to individual training and won't be coming home until October. On the plus side, he is a member of the Oregon National Guard and will be joining the JROTC program so he won't be deployed until after he graduates from college.

He my only biological brother, but three guys who are very close to my family and were like brothers to me growing up are in the service as well. One is in US Air Force, another is in the Oregon Air National Guard and the third is in Germany with the US Army. I've listed those guys in the hero section of my blog. I know there are many other family friends in various parts of the military, but the four guys listed there mean the most to me.

On another note, a happier note that I never did post last October is that my cousin had her baby, Sam, and he was born 100% healthy. It was a miracle in every sense of the world. Sam is a great baby, loves his light up bouncer, the apple of his parents' eyes, the joy of his grandparents, an overall family favorite and in less than eight weeks will be an "older" cousin to a beautiful baby girl.
